Platform Development
Coremed has developed a novel polymer/bio-adhesive drug delivery
platform, that allows drug delivery without modifications to a
molecule’s three dimensional structure. This platform leaves
bioavailability and efficacy intact, while maintaining a molecule’s
safety profile. Since 1994, the company has developed a
comprehensive product base with key technologies in oral,
transmucosal, and transdermal delivery methods. Insulin delivery is
the first of many program initiatives currently being developed.
Based on its novel and proprietary platform, Coremed has
developed an inhalable form of insulin with a best-in-market
bioavailability profile. Alveair™ boasts close to 100%
bio-availability, no respiratory side-effects during preliminary
human trials, and oral delivery rendering injections unnecessary.
Alveair has generated tremendous interest from major pharmaceutical
companies and trade organizations.
Coremed has conducted pre-clinical trials of its inhaled insulin
technology with over 130 experiments, to show potential in humans.
Coremed experimental data and results have been presented at the
American Diabetes Association, Endocrine Society Scientific,
Experimental Biology, International Congress of Diabetes and
American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists meetings since
2000.
Additionally, Coremed’s Intesulin™ - oral insulin - has been
demonstrated to be effective, and based on its pre-clinical trials,
has the best efficacy in its class. Preliminary research suggests
that Coremed’s drug delivery platform would increase bioavailability
for a number of other classes of drugs and allow oral delivery. |
